Actress Lizzy Anjorin has openly criticised the Lagos State Government for allegedly withdrawing a court case of assault against her at Idumota market.

Lizzy took to Instagram on Friday, sharing a video to highlight her grievances and call out the government.

She also called out media outlets for spreading false narratives about the incident.

In the post, Lizzy urged viewers, “Please, I want you to watch this video and see what Lagos State did to me and my family.”

The video then transitions to a clip that went viral in February where Lizzy was accused of stealing gold at Idumota market. Subsequent clips feature various media outlets discussing the incident.

The actress captioned the post, “Shame! Shame! Shame! APC, why did you send no prosecution to court? Lagos state, why did you refuse to investigate this matter? Why did you turn Lagos into a criminal city? Who ordered the removal of this criminal case in court? Why did the market women mention gold and fake transfer?”

In February, Lizzy addressed the allegation, explaining that the incident stemmed from a failed N91,000 transfer for beauty accessories she purchased late in 2023. She claimed her husband accidentally sent the money to the wrong account, leading to the misunderstanding.

“At Tom Jones, do they sell gold there? That place is Tom Jones, where we buy wedding materials, all these ‘para para’ (cheap) stones that we use for clothes. So, I cannot go to Idumota to buy accessories in peace, abi?” she questioned.

Following the incident, six traders were arraigned before the Chief Magistrate Court in Lagos Island for allegedly assaulting Lizzy, causing her bodily harm. They were granted bail of N200,000 each with one surety but were remanded in custody until they met the bail conditions.

Lizzy has now claimed that the case has been dropped, prompting her to accuse the government of colluding with blogger Gistlover.
