The remains of business mogul Olu Lulu-Briggs have been buried in Abonnema, Akuku-toru Local Government Area of Rivers State more than two years after his death.
His widow Seinye Lulu-Briggs was noticeably absent at the funeral which had dignitaries in attendance on Saturday.
Lulu-Briggs died in December 2018 in Ghana but was not buried because of disagreement in his family over the circumstances surrounding his death.
He was the founder and chairman of Moni Pulo Limited, an oil exploration and production company.
His widow and some notable Kalabari chiefs had last week raised concern over her exclusion from the funeral activities of the octogenarian.
A prominent Kalabari elder statesman and renowned business mogul, Ferdinand Alabraba, had in a three-page letter addressed to the deceased’s son Dumo Lulu-Briggs called on him to work towards a very peaceful and successful burial in which all stakeholders will fully participate.
Dignitaries at the funeral include former President Goodluck Jonathan, his wife Patience Jonathan, Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, his deputy Ipalibo Harry, minister of state for petroleum Timipre Sylva and his wife Alange Timipre Sylva.
First lady Aisha Buhari was represented at the funeral by Mrs Timipre Sylva.
Mrs Buhari noted that the octogenarian was well known and dear to the first family and would be remembered for his proficiency in business.
She added that the first family would continue to work with the Lulu-Briggs family to continue with the legacies of the oil magnate.
