The 32-year-old Mexican-Kenyan tweeted on Thursday “AAAAAAAAH. At last I can share this secret: my second Vogue cover is out!!!”
Coming after Beyonce’s reign on the cover of the September 2015 issue, the publishers brings #BlackGirlMagic back by featuring another coloured celebrity in the latest edition.
Beyonce made history by becoming the first black female musician to cover the September issue of the magazine and also the third black woman ever to do so (following Naomi Campbell in 1989 and Halle Berry in 2010).
While Lupita has not managed to snag the September cover yet, it only makes sense she is the star of the new edition as she’s got plenty of projects on deck: Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens is due out December 18 of this year, The Jungle Book hits screens April 15, 2016 and her lead role in Disney’s Queen of Katwe will also premiere next year.
The stunning beauty made her VOGUE cover debut last year for the July 2014 issue.
