Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, Chairman/CEO of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Minister of Art, Culture and the Creative Economy Hannatu Musawa and actress Sola Sobowale were among the dignitaries who attended the grand opening of Kunle Afolayan’s KAP Film Village & Resort on Saturday, April 12.

The event, held in Igbojaye, Oyo State, marked the official launch of Kunle’s latest creative venture, a collaborative project between the filmmaker, the Oyo State Government and the federal ministry of art, culture, tourism and the creative economy.

Also present at the ceremony were actress Bimbo Akintola, veteran filmmaker Tunde Kelani, comedian Gbenga Adeyinka and QED.ng publisher Olumide Iyanda.

The KAP Film Village & Resort is not Afolayan’s first major project under the KAP brand.

In March 2022, the award-winning filmmaker launched the KAP Film & Television Academy in Lagos with support from Netflix, providing hands-on training in filmmaking.

He also established the KAP Cinema, a vintage-style movie theatre dedicated to African storytelling and nostalgia-driven experiences.
