A 21-year-old man, Bassey Udoh, on Thursday appeared in an Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court for attempted murder and assault.
Udoh, who was brought on two charges of attempted murder and assault, however, pleaded not guilty.

But Insp. Jimah Iseghede, the prosecutor, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Oct. 6 at about 10.50 p.m. at Travellers Lodge Hotel in Ajah, near Lagos.
He alleged that Udoh had attempted to kill one Precious Mba by tying a rope on her neck and trying to strangle her.
“Udoh also tried to use a knife to stab the complainant,’’ Iseghede said.

According to the prosecutor, the offences contravene Sections 173 and 230 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2015.
The Magistrate, Mrs A. Kusanu, admitted Udoh to bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties each in like sum.
She adjourned the case until Nov. 20 for mention.
