A 67-year-old man, Francis Olamide, on Monday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court, charged with sexual assault of an eight-year-old girl.
The retired sexagenarian, who resides at 33, Morebise St., Ayobo, Ipaja, a suburb of Lagos, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Prosecutor, Insp. Clifford Ogu, told the court that the accused committed the offence on September 23 at his residence.
Ogu said that the man called his neighbour’s daughter into his room on the pretext of sending her on an errand.
He said the retiree put his finger into her private part and told her not to tell anyone, adding that the act resulted in the girl’s bleeding from her private.
The prosecutor said that when the minor could not bear the pain anymore she told her mother and the accused was consequently arrested.
He said that the offence contravened Section 135(1) (2) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Chief Magistrates, Mrs Taiwo Akanni, admitted the accused to bail of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Akanni adjourned the case until November 22 for mention.
