A 46-year-old man, Donatus Okechukwu, was on Thursday brought a Badagry Chief
Magistrates’ Court, Lagos State, charged with N343, 500, land fraud.
Okechukwu is facing a four-count charge of stealing, obtaining money by false pretences, assault and breach of peace.
The accused, Police Prosecutor Clement Okuoimose, said, committed the offences on August, 28 at Ifelodun area of Aradagun in Badagry.
Okuoimose alleged that the accused collected the N343, 500 from the complainant, Vera Aniukwu, on the pretext of selling a plot of land
for her at Ajara area of Badagry.
“He failed to provide the land and converted the money to personal use,’’ he said.
The offences contravened Sections 168, 275, 311 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
In his ruling, Chief Magistrate Lazarus Hotepo granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until Oct. 24.
