An Osun Magistrates’ Court in Ile-Ife on Friday sentenced 45-year old man, Adebayo Fatai, to 8 months imprisonment for beating up one Adesanmi Taiwo with a screwdriver.
Magistrate Olalekan Ijiyode, who did not give an option of a fine, said that would serve as a deterrent to others.
Fatai, who resides at No 14, Ido-Onigbaya Onpetu Street, Ile-Ife, had pleaded guilty to a one-count charge of criminal force and assault, to which he begged for leniency.
The Prosecutor, Sgt Sunday Osanyintuyi, had told the court that the complainant reported the matter at ” A Division” Moore, Ile-Ife, on December 20, 2017.
Osanyintuyi said that accused committed the offense on December 15, around 7:00 p.m. at Ido Onigbaya Street, Ile-Ife.
He added that the accused assaulted one Adesanmi Taiwo by beating her as well as pierced her with a screwdriver at her left hand and she sustained open injuries.
According to him, the offense contravenes the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
