Man who treked from Lagos to celebrate Buhari’s victory arrives Abuja

Trekker-300x196Suleiman Hashim who vowed to trek from Lagos State to Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) if All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari wins the March 28 Presidential election, has finally arrived Abuja after 20 days on the road.

 
Hashim arrived Zuba from Suleja, Niger State at 11:30 yesterday morning with hundreds of expectant fans already waiting to receive him at the Zuba Bridge.
The mammoth crowd continued with him to Dei-dei where some other undreds of others joined, thereby causing serious gridlock on the Zuba Expressway.
Apart from his numerous fans who took joy in ending the final lap of his adventure with him, so many motorcyclists were with him from Zuba to Dutsen Alhaji where our reporters followed him to.
Men of the Department of State Security Service were present to provide protection for the “star trekker” while an ambulance with an inscription “Nigerian Turkish Nizamiye” also escorted Hashim.
He arrived the National Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Wuse II at about 8pm and was received by some party executives including the wife of Nasarawa State governor, Hajiya Salamatu Al-Makura.
Speaking on behalf of the APC National Chairman, Chief Odigie Oyegun, the National Welfare Secretary of the party, Alhaji Dikko Umaru Radda commended him for his courage and determination.
He said fulfilling the promise he made has earned him respect and made him a hero. He added that fulfilling promises and being upright was what made Nigerians elect General Muhammadu Buhari as president.
Speaking shortly after his arrival at the APC National Secretariat, Hashim said he embarked on the journey because of the promise he made that if Buhari wins he would  trek from Lagos to Abuja.
“Well actually, I did this because I took a promise between me and myGod. I did not do it because of publicity, because of anybody or anything or any reward,” he said.

 

The crowd that followed him rode in motorcycles, tricycles and vehicles overwhelmed security operatives at the APC National Secretariat. Several people scaled the fence and gate into the compound to take a look at the traveler. They were chanting “Sai Buhari”, “Change” all through the walk.
