Manchester City came from behind to set up a Capital One Cup final meeting with Liverpool after beating Everton 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium to secure a 4-3 aggregate victory.
Sergio Aguero scooped low to head beyond Joel Robles from Kevin de Bruyne’s whipped delivery to make it 3-1 on the night and 4-3 on aggregate.
De Bruyne had earlier controversially levelled the aggregate score with a cool finish from Raheem Sterling’s cross.
Sterling delivered the ball after it had gone out although the referee didn’t see it and the goal stood.
Everton had taken the lead through Ross Barkley to go 3-1 up on aggregate after 18 minutes.
He drove through a non-existent defence and finished well beyond Willy Caballero.
Fernandinho equalised with a deflected effort six minutes later to make it 1-1 at half time.
Then De Bruyne and Aguero saw City through – they play Liverpool who beat Stoke on penalties last night.
There was bad news for City late on though as De Bruyne was taken off on a stretcher after a nasty injury.
Manager, Manuel Pellegrini, says the player will undergo a scan on Thursday but suspects the Belgian star has sustained medial ligament damage.
