Manchester United are ready to sign Nigerian, Odion Ighalo, on a permanent deal for about £15million, Daily Mail reports.
The news platform said it was learnt that Ighalo’s loan move from Shanghai Shenhua will end on May 31, a month earlier than normal.
With the Premier League on hold till the end of April due to the coronavirus pandemic, United may have to kick-off negotiations for an extension with the Chinese club.
The former Watford forward is said to have impressed manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with four goals in his first eight matches.
Shanghai, it is said, is preparing to ship off Ighalo who will be 31 in June.
The club did not ask for a loan fee in January because United agreed to contribute £130,000 a week towards Ighalo’s wages of £300,000 a week.
Speaking on his contract situation at the weekend, Ighalo said: “Talking about other things now would not only be selfish but terribly insensitive.
“The challenge before us is not a football one, but a global one. You can’t put football before health challenges.”
