Prelate of the Methodist Church Nigeria Samuel Uche on Friday took a swipe at state governors who came into power through court orders.
During a sermon at the funeral of the late Parakoyi of Ibadanland Bode Akindele held at Methodist Cathedral, Agbeni, Ibadan, the prelate described some courts in the country as places of lawlessness.
“Electoral victories are given to some undeserving candidates through the court of law,” he said.
“There is one political party here in Nigeria, even when you don’t win an election the party would give you victory through the Supreme Court.
“Many governors are supreme court governors, they didn’t win (election) and are not supposed to be there. This is lawlessness and that is why I call some of our courts, court of lawlessness.”
Uche urged the public to emulate the late Akindele’s love for God and humanity which made him stand out.
He described him as a great philanthropist and businessman who touched many lives positively.
He also lamented the growing insecurity and looting of the nation’s treasury, which he said were retarding the development of the nation.
Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde attended the funeral.
Akindele died on June 29 at the age of 87.
