A member of the House of Representatives, Akin Alabi, has called out Abba Kyari’s mourners who were quiet when the late chief of staff to the president was being criticised.
Kyari was severally termed by many as Nigeria’s ‘acting president’, an allusion to his influence in the Presidency.
However, since his death last Friday resulting from the novel coronavirus, adulations have poured in from numerous quarters on his personality.
Tweeting on Monday, Mr Alabi said he had an issue with those who maintained silence in the days when Kyari faced criticism.
“Although I have a an issue with those that kept quiet when he was being attacked while alive and are now eulogizing Kyari, I also give kudos because it’s easier to praise people while they are alive than when dead. The simple thing now would be to keep quiet. But they are not👍🏿,” he wrote.
The lawmaker also mocked Twitter influencers, whom he said were irritated that many ‘reasonable’ people were eulogising Kyari.
“Twitter influencers are exasperated that many reasonable people are eulogizing Abba Kyari, despite being dead and they could easily have abandoned him,” he wrote.
