Restored Akwa United coach, Maurice Cooreman, says he is happy to be back at the club after serving a six-week suspension.
The Belgian tactician, who only took charge of the Promise Keepers at the start of the season, was first axed in April after a string of poor results including a home defeat to defending champions, Enyimba.
His suspension was however extended by another two weeks by the Paul Bassey-led management because of alleged lone attitude to decision making among other issues that should normally involve his subordinates.
Bassey came out with a stern warning that Cooreman must learn to work with his assistant coaches if he does not want to lose his job and the former Enyimba boss is glad everything has been resolved.
“I have resumed back to work and I am happy that everything has been settled,” Cooreman disclosed.
“Everything is fine and we are preparing for our match with Heartland on Sunday.”
The club through its spokesperson, Uwem Ekoh, had confirmed the return of the tactician who resumed his duties on Monday.
“I want to confirm to you that our head coach, Maurice Cooreman is back in charge of the team after the expiration of his suspension,” Ekoh told Goal.
“He was around on Monday evening to handle the training session and has been conducting it ever since.
“We want to keep focus and striving to maintain our form. Cooreman has promised to work with other assistant coaches,” Ekoh concluded.
The Federation Cup holders are presently sixth on the log with 32 points from 22 matches and are away to Heartland this weekend in a matchday 24 clash in Owerri.
