Enugu-based Catholic priest, Rev Fr Ejike Mbaka, was part of those who attended the swearing-in ceremony of Hope Uzodinma as governor of Imo State.
The governor-elect and his deputy, Professor Placid Njoku, were sworn in on Wednesday by the Chief Justice of the state, Justice Pascal Nnadi.
The ceremony was held at the Imo State Government House, hours after Uzodinma received his certificate of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja.
The Supreme Court had on Tuesday ordered INEC to issue him a certificate of return and withdraw that which was given to Emeka Ihedioha.
National chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole; former governor of the state, Senator Rochas Okorocha; and governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the 2019 governorship election, Ifeanyi Ararume also attended the swearing-in ceremony.
On arrival at the venue, Mbaka drew a large crowd following his New Year prophecy which suggested that Ihedioha would be removed.
While receiving his certificate of return at INEC’s headquarters, Uzodinma said he owes his victory at the Supreme Court to a functional judiciary.
“We owe this victory to the almighty God, we owe it to the functional judiciary, the Supreme Court used the eagle eyes of the law and gave us justice, and there is so much excitement down there in Imo state,” he said.
