The Musical Copyright Society Nigeria (MCSN) has opened a regional office in Ibadan to cater to Oyo, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti States.
The announcement was made in a press release on Tuesday, confirming that the new office, located on Adamasigba Road in the heart of Ibadan, began operations with an intensive training program for newly recruited staff on Monday, March 3, 2025.
The training is being led by MCSN’s Chief Executive Officer, Mayowa Ayilaran, alongside top experts in copyright administration.
The program is designed to equip the new employees with in-depth knowledge of copyright management, particularly in licensing and enforcement.
With the opening of this office, businesses such as hotels, broadcasting stations, and event centers that require music licensing in Ibadan and surrounding areas no longer need to travel to MCSN’s headquarters in Lagos to process their requirements.
Speaking on the expansion, Ayilaran stated that MCSN aims to establish at least 20 offices nationwide by 2027, adding, “God willing, we will achieve this goal.”
He further noted, “We have already started operations in Abuja, Kaduna, and Kano states, while the Edo and Delta state agencies will soon evolve into full regional offices. We shall surely meet our target of twenty offices nationwide by 2027.”
MCSN, established in 1984, is responsible for protecting and managing the rights of composers, songwriters and music publishers in Nigeria.
The society is currently led by Chairman Orits Williki, with King Sunny Ade serving as its president.
In April 2021, MCSN expanded its board of directors, appointing musicians Sunny Neji and Asha ‘Gangali’ Fapohunda, alongside entertainment entrepreneur Matthew Ohio, to strengthen its leadership and services.
