Meet Patricia Amadin, Lagos’ second female police PRO

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, (CP) Mr. Fatai Owoseni, has appointed DSP Patricia Amadin as new Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command.

Amadin, who is occupying the position in acting capacity, replaces DSP Kenneth Nwosu, who has been redeployed to Force Headquarters, Abuja.

She is the second female PPRO to serve in Lagos after Ngozi Braide who assumed office on June 11, 2012.

The 37-year-old was presented as new spokesperson to reporters by her predecessor, Nwosu, in Lagos on Monday.

Nwosu commended Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria (CRAN) members for the support given him during his six months tenure, urging them to extend same to the new spokesperson.

The outgoing spokesperson said his successor was his course mate at the police academy.

He apologised to those he might have offended in the course of duty, saying that such action was not deliberate.

Responding, Amadin said her new office was a familiar terrain, as she had once worked as Deputy Police PRO in Lagos.

Amadin said she still observed the friendliness between the command and journalists assigned to cover its activities, calling for more cooperation.

“My calling as PPRO, Lagos Command is to serve to promote the image of the command.

“I call on all journalists for assistance to enable me succeed.

“Journalists should endeavour to always confirm their stories with me to avoid ambiguity,’’ Amadin said.

She called for a minute silence for late Jude Isiguzo, a journalist  with The Nation newspaper and CRAN member who died in November 2014 after a brief illness.

Amadin was born on March 17, 1978 in Benin City, Edo State.

She attended the Federal Government Girl’s College, Benin City from 1988 to 1993 and the University of Benin between 1997 and 2000 graduating with a B.Sc. (Hons) in Mathematics and Economics.

Amadin enlisted into the Nigeria Police Academy, Kano on February 1, 2005.
