Mercy Aigbe posts video of battered face for campaign against domestic violence

Actress Mercy Aigbe on Thursday released a video of her battered face to promote the campaign against domestic violence.

In the video posted on Instagram, the 38-year-old said violence is not an option in a relationship.

She added that she is not ashamed of her pain and urges anyone in a similar situation to speak out.

The University of Lagos theatre art graduate then called on her fans to come out for a walk against domestic violence taking place on Friday at Falomo Bridge, Ikoyi, Lagos.

The actress had earlier this year set the social media ablaze with images of her battered face from the beating she allegedly suffered in the hands of her estranged husband, Lanre Gentry.

Gentry is currently standing trial for domestic violence at an Ikeja Chief Magistrate Court, Ogba, Lagos.

The case was instituted against him by the Lagos State Domestic Sexual Violence Response Team (DSVRT), which has also obtained a restraining order preventing the hotelier from going near the actress,
