Gospel-afro pop singer Mercy Alu made history after bagging three nominations at the recently held Hollywood and African Prestigious Award (HAPA) 2021 edition in Los Angeles, USA.
Mercy was nominated in the music category for best independent new artist, best upcoming female artist and best oldies or goodies act.
In a recent interview, the gospel singer expressed her excitement over the nominations, saying that the recognition will motivate her to work harder.
“Sincerely, these nominations are a huge plus to my career. In fact, I was overwhelmed when I saw my name among the nominees in three different categories alongside other global music icons. I thank God for the inspiration and equally thank the organisers for honouring me with the nominations.
“It is also a sign that my music is being appreciated all over the world and that will make me work harder as a recording artist”, she said with smiles.
Aside from Alu, other Nigerian celebrities such as Pasuma, Lateef Adedimeji, Etinosa Idemudia and Jumoke Otedola were also recognised at the event.
