Gospel singer Mercy Chinwo has tearfully accused her former manager, Ezekiel ThankGod, aka Eezeetee, of orchestrating false rumours about her son.
In a video posted on Instagram on Tuesday, Mercy accused Ezekiel of being behind the scandal.
The ‘Excess Love’ singer revealed the toxic nature of her relationship with Ezekiel, which led her to move from Port Harcourt to Lagos for peace of mind.
She recalled, “A man claimed I sued him. He made videos online to tarnish my image. He told me, ‘I made you who you are, and I will destroy you.’ I became scared for my life, and it eventually forced me to leave Port Harcourt.”
Mercy claimed that Ezekiel’s hatred for Nathaniel Bassey was the catalyst for the malicious rumors about her son.
“One of my major crimes was collaborating with Pastor Nathaniel Bassey on a song. Because this man hates him, he went as far as spreading fake news about my innocent child, claiming my son wasn’t mine and paying bloggers to do so,” she tearfully explained.
She also spoke out about Ezekiel’s control over her, alleging that he wanted her to fight those he disliked, including Pastor Jerry Eze and would harass her when she questioned his motives.
Mercy reiterated statements made by her lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi, on January 25, clarifying that she had never initiated legal action against Ezekiel over her music catalog and accused him of playing the “victim” while bullying her.
“You have bloggers, but I have God,” Mercy declared, expressing confidence that she would overcome the challenges despite the attacks.
Mercy and her husband, Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa, welcomed their first child, a baby boy, on October 28, 2023.
Shortly after, rumours surfaced claiming that the child’s father was fellow gospel artist Nathaniel Bassey.
