Big Brother Naija reality season four winner Mercy Eke has reacted to an allegation of affair with celebrity auto dealer Ikechukwu Ogbonna, popularly known as IVD, husband of the late Bimbo Ogbonna.
Bimbo’s sister identified on Instagram as Mama Jazzz broke the news of her death in a post on the photo-sharing app on Saturday, accusing IVD of being responsible for it.
Moments after, rumours that Mercy Eke was having an affair with the husband of the deceased resurfaced on the internet.
Reacting to the rumoured affair in an Instagram live session on Saturday, the reality star said she only had a business relationship with IVD who sold Range Rover car to her.
She said: “I want to clear something. And I’m only doing this for the sake of the dead, for the sake of Bimbo, that’s why I’m doing this. September 2020 I wanted to celebrate my birthday, that was the first time I heard about this man called IVD. I went to buy car, that’s where I saw IVD and bought my Range Rover, I paid cash. I bought car from this guy, the car stopped working, I kept going to mechanic to mechanic.
“His wife was aware of all these things. His wife was the one that stopped me from arresting IVD. But before I went home for Christmas, I went there, I said ‘you must give me something equivalent toy car’. That was when IVD gave me his Maybach and people where speculating that I bought a car and I didn’t say anything. He gave me that car and one GLA and that was the only connection I’ve ever had with IVD. If not for this transaction I have no business with him. You can’t be tarnishing my name, I did nothing to you, let the hate go.”
Mercy Eke also posted the receipts and video of the car on Instagram.
Mrs Ogbonna allegedly died in a hospital following a fire incident at her residence in Megamound Estate, Lekki, Lagos on Wednesday.
Unconfirmed reports say IVD’s wife was rejected by several hospitals due to the nature of the burns.
The tragic incident is happening two years after the couple publicly reconciled following allegations of domestic violence made against IVD.
