Nollywood actress, Mercy Johnson, has announced the death of her mother, Elizabeth Johnson.
The 33-year-old made the announcement in an Instagram post on Thursday, asking for privacy as the family grieves.
“It deeply saddens me to say that my beloved mother is gone. This is a trying time for my family and we would appreciate your prayers, even as we plead for our privacy at this time. Thank you,” she wrote.
An indigene of Kogi State, Mercy is the fourth child in a family of seven.
Her mum was married to a former naval officer, Daniel Johnson.
The cause and time of Mrs Johnson’s death had not been confirmed as at the time of filing this report.
Mercy’s mother was one of her strongest supporters during her wedding in 2011 following allegations that the actress snatched her husband, Odianose Okojie, from another woman.
“Mercy is unique, I can never deny her anytime any day, she is gifted and God has used her to bring the family up, so if anybody is stepping on my joy, he or she will face the wrath of God,” she said in an interview published in Vanguard.
