Metuh undergoes another surgery for undisclosed ailment, calls for prayer

Former national publicity secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Olisa Metuh has called for prayer as he undergoes another surgery.

Metuh has been in and out of hospitals since he was released from Kuje correctional facility in December 2020.

The former PDP scribe posted a photo of himself on a hospital bed on Facebook on Saturday, saying he hoped it would be his last surgery.

He said: “In the last one year, I have had many surgeries and procedures and I am believing God this will be my last.

“No matter how angry you’ve been about my outspokeness or outright naked challenge to power back then, please pray for me.

“The cankerworm had eaten deeply into my health, it has not been easy and I have only remained whole through the mercies of God.

“I got some [scary] news from the surgeons today but my faith remains in God Almighty and with your prayers and by His stripes I am healed and would remain whole in Jesus name.”

Metuh left the correctional facility in Abuja on December 24, 2020 after the Court of Appeal in Abuja voided his conviction.

A Federal High Court in Abuja had on February 25, 2020 jailed him for 39 years for money laundering.

Justice Okon Abang had found him guilty of the seven-count charge filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) which accused him of illegally receiving N400 million from the office of the national security adviser.

The Appeal Court, however, nullified the judgement on December 16, 2020. The court said Justice Abang exhibited bias in the case.
