Galatasaray sporting director, Levent Nazifoglu, has joined millions of football enthusiasts around the world to sing the praises of Chelsea midfielder, John Obi Mikel.
Mikel, 29, is currently with Nigeria’s U23 team at the Rio Olympics – impressing in all four games en route to the semi-final where they face Germany on Wednesday.
The Blues no 12 has constantly been linked with a move to the Turkish giants after spending over 10 years at Stamford Bridge.
And Nazifoglu, while admitting that the Nigerian is “quality” refused to rule out any potential deal for the midfield maestro.
“Mikel is a quality player,” he told Turkish-football.
“And we have been interested but he is not our priority either, we have other players that are being targeted.”
The sporting director only recently revealed that the Istanbul club were close to signing Lucas Leiva until Liverpool pulled out of the deal at the last minute.
But a deal for Mikel could still materialise according to Mynet who recently reported that the Lions are planning to forward a £2.58 million offer for the former Lyn Oslo man on a three-year deal.
Meanwhile, Mikel’s Chelsea teammate and compatriot, Kenneth Omeruo, has completed a loan move to another Turkish side, Besiktas.
The 23-year-old who spent last season on loan at Kasımpaşa appeared 25 times to attract the eyes of the Turkish champions.
He becomes the 15th Blues player to be sent out on loan for the 2016/17 season.
Omeruo joined Chelsea in 2012 from Standard Liege but is yet to make any appearance for the 2012 UEFA Champions League winners.
