World football governing body, FIFA, has revealed the breakdown of how national team captains and managers voted in the inaugural Best Player Award held in Zurich, Switzerland on Monday.
Real Madrid and Portugal star, Cristiano Ronaldo, picked up the top award after scooping 34.54% cent of the total votes.
Bitter-rival, Lionel Messi, got 26.42% of the total votes while Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann came third with 7.53%.
According to a list made public by FIFA, Super Eagles manager, Gernot Rohr, and his skipper, Mikel Obi, differed in their choice of the world’s best player.
Rohr, who is Franco-German, went for Frenchman Griezmann with Messi in second and German goalkeeper, Manuel Neuer, in third.
Whereas Mikel who in 2005 was runner-up to Messi at the FIFA U20 World Cup snubbed the Argentine in his top three players.
Instead, the ex-Chelsea midfielder voted Ronaldo, Griezmann and Neuer.
