Super Eagles skipper, Mikel Obi, has joined the rest of the world in celebrating the career of ex-Chelsea captain, John Terry.
Mikel, 31, played alongside the 37-year-old for 11 years at Stamford Bridge before moving to China in 2017.
Terry made his decision known on Sunday having been without a club since leaving Championship (second-tier) side Aston Villa last season.
“After 23 incredible years as a footballer, I have decided now is the right time for me to retire from playing,” he wrote on his Instagram account.
Terry, a no-nonsense defender who won 78 England caps, left Chelsea in 2017 after 19 seasons at the west London club where he won 17 trophies, including five Premier League titles, five FA Cup triumphs and three League Cup trophies.
Mikel who slotted alongside the Englishman those glorious years wished his former skipper well in his next career path.
Congratulations on a fantastic career old boy! Good luck for whatever’s next! #CaptainLeaderLegend pic.twitter.com/3dMSSEWE0d
