Earlier reports had linked him to Turkish outfit, Fenerbahce, but Africanfootball.com reports that the player was in Dubai recently to discuss the deal.
It also quotes the player’s agent, Babawo Mohammed, as saying “Mikel has agreed personal terms with Al Ain and it is now left for Chelsea and the Dubai club to agree on a transfer fee. He has returned to England to communicate all these to Chelsea. We just have to wait and see what Chelsea say in this regard.”
Despite having two years left on his current contract with Chelsea, Mikel will be keen to leave Stamford Bridge where he has been reduced to playing bit roles.
With a medal haul that include two Premier League titles, Four FA Cup, One Champions Leagues and One Europa League at Chelsea, Mikel will see better opportunities elsewhere.
His main agent, John Shittu, has not said anything yet but a move to Al Anin will see the 28-year-old team up with Ghana skipper, Asamoah Gyan.
