Mikel Obi takes charity work to Tinubu

Super Eagles skipper Mikel Obi was Monday the guest of  All Progressive Congress (APC) national leader Bola Tinubu.

Mikel, 31, visited the former Lagos State governor at his Bourdillon residence to seek his support for recently launched football clinic in the state.

The ex-Chelsea skipper, who is currently on holidays in the country with his family, began the charity work on Sunday to discover the next big stars from the grassroots.

During the launch, Mikel availed the medium to advise kids with talents and interest in the round leather game.

”I decided to come up with this foundation to give back because I am a Nigeria,” the midfielder revealed.

“And I am a product of Pepsi Academy and I decided to give back to the society what I have gained from the society.”

Nigerians will be hoping Mikel uses this rare break to reflect on his international future.

The Tianjin TEDA is reportedly considering quitting the Super Eagles.

He is yet to feature for Gernot Rohr’s team since last summer’s World Cup in Russia.

Ahead of next year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, Nigerians will definitely hope to see their talisman don the national colours again.
