Super Eagles skipper, Mikel Obi, made good of his bet to shut out Odion Ighalo when Tianjin TEDA visited Changchun Yatai on Saturday.
Mikel had humorously bragged that his compatriot “won’t come close” when they square off in the Chinese Super League (CSL).
The pair were on parade for the entire duration of the gruelling encounter.
However, it was Ghana’s Frank Acheampong that stole the spotlight with the winner for TEDA in the 81st minute.
Ighalo, who had notched seven goals in previous nine matches, failed to add to that tally.
The victory ensured TEDA climbed to eight on the log with 15 points while Yatai, four points inferior, dropped to 11th.
