John Shittu, the agent of Chelsea midfielder, John Obi Mikel, has revealed that there is uncertainty regarding the player’s future at the club.
Mikel has found himself in the fringes of the first team this season making just eight appearances – with most of that number coming as a substitute.
The Nigeria international was close to ending his nine-year romance with the Stamford Bridge side with Turkish giants, Besiktas, a certain destination but the move was rebuffed by the Blues.
Now Shittu, who is Nigeria’s most successful football intermediary, has disclosed that there is a dark cloud over his client’s Chelsea future and they just have to wait for things to unfold.
“He (Mikel) had offers to move at the start of the season,” Shittu was quoted as saying.
“But Chelsea refused to sell because they probably had him in their plans.
“Now we have to wait and see what happens.”
Mikel joined the Blues in 2006 from Norwegian side Lyn and has made over two centuries of appearances – winning several trophies including the Barclays Premier League and the Uefa Champions League.
