Abass Mimiko, younger brother of the former governor of Ondo State Olusegun Mimiko, has been elected candidate of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) ahead of the November 16 governorship election.
Mimiko was elected at the party’s state secretariat in Akure.
Addressing the party members after his emergence, Mimiko said he was going to focus on education, health, economy and security of the state if elected as the governor of Ondo State.
Mimiko said, “We are a force to reckon with in this election. We will ensure food security. Within a year of our being in the office, we will have surplus of food in Ondo State. We will ensure affordable quality education, industrialisation housing, free health services for all residents are part of our programmes.”

He said that his brother, the former governor, threw his weight behind his aspiration to become the next governor of the state.
Mimiko said, “Former governor Mimiko has no doubt that if l become the governor of the state, everyone will enjoy.
“My brother is happy that I am coming out because he knows I would build on his achievements.”
Before the primary, the party held a state congress where Cornelius Akintoye emerged as the state chairman of the party.
