Miss Universe Nigeria, Mitchel Ihezue, is set to conclude her reign as the 2024 Miss Universe Nigeria camp officially opens in Lagos.
Mitchel announced the forthcoming end of her tenure on Instagram on Sunday, sharing a photoshoot video.
Reflecting on her journey, she expressed a deep sense of gratitude for the opportunities she’s had to represent Nigeria and be an advocate for young women across the country.
“As my reign as Miss Universe Nigeria comes to a close, I’m filled with a mix of emotions, mostly of gratitude — for the incredible opportunities I’ve had to represent our beautiful country and to be a voice for young women across Nigeria,” she wrote.
“It’s been an honor to wear the crown and to use my platform to make a positive impact through my advocacy, which focused on empowering women, investing in their economic empowerment through business grants, as well as securing the freedom of some women held in prisons for minor, bailable offenses.”
Mitchel also shared the fulfillment she gained from her projects, which further solidified her belief that the journey was worthwhile, despite the challenges and hurdles she encountered.
The model offered words of encouragement to the contestants, emphasising that this is just the beginning of their journey.
“Embrace every moment, learn from each other, and always strive to be your best selves. Remember, beauty is more than just looks; it’s about your inner strength, confidence, and compassion,” she advised.
She expressed confidence in the abilities of the new contestants, believing that the next Miss Universe Nigeria will be an outstanding ambassador for the country.
Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 camp kicked off on Saturday with 24 contestants arriving at the Festival Hotel in Festac, Lagos.
The grand finale will take place on August 31 at the Eko Hotels & Suites in Lagos.
The winner will receive N10 million in cash, along with other prizes, and will represent Nigeria at the Miss Universe Beauty Pageant.
