Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State on Wednesday formally dropped the title of Your Excellency.
The governor, a born again Christian, said in a statement personally signed by him that only God is the most excellent.

“Only God, the Almighty, the Creator, the Protector is the Most Excellent. No man can share His eternal qualities.
“Thenceforth, I wish to be addressed simply as Mr Governor, a title that will constantly remind me that I have been chosen out of so many fellow compatriots to lead a collective salvage of our political economy,” he said.
While some Nigerians on Twitter have reacted with indifference to the development, others have applauded the governor.
