Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has proposed Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi, for President of Nigeria in 2023.
The group’s national president, Muhammadu Kirowa, at a Southeast Security Summit in Enugu on Thursday said that Mr Umahi would be the country’s leader after President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure ends in 2023.
Kirowa was represented at the event by the national secretary of MACBAN, Baba Ngalzarma.
He said that Umahi as chairman of the Southeast Governor’s Forum has created an atmosphere of conviviality between Fulani herdsmen and their Southeast hosts.
“We say a big thank you. We really appreciate your wonderful disposition and your outstanding desires for peace. What this country needs are visionary leaders like you,” the group told Umahi who was represented at the occasion by his deputy.
Kirowa dispelled rumours of imminent invasion of the Southeast by its members, saying that “Southeast will not boil. If Southeast is going to boil we will not be at this summit in large numbers. Southeast is also not stubborn, otherwise we will not be here today.”
The group praised the governments of Enugu and Anambra States for their commitment in ensuring peace.
MACBAN also called on its members to respect the traditions and culture of host communities and be open for dialogue at all times.
“MACBAN stands for truth, just it and equity for all and does not and will not condone criminality even within its own fold,” Kirowa said.
