Actress Iyabo Ojo has reacted to the N500 million lawsuit threat against her by singer Naira Marley who accused her of claiming defamation.
Naira Marley had demanded a public apology and N500m in damages citing a September 2023 Instagram post by Iyabo, where she allegedly accused Marley of engaging in “spiritual and physical dealings” with the late singer Mohbad and causing him “mental harm.”
Reacting in another letter shared on her Instagram page on Monday, Iyabo expressed her displeasure with the way the legal action was brought to her notice.
The actress demanded a sum of N1 billion from the singer for what she perceives as deliberately misleading the public.
The 45-year-old through her counsel said, “Our client would’ve ordinarily dismissed your letter dated December 12, 2023, for being outrightly inconsequential and of no relevance, premised on your failure to transmit the correspondence till this very day.
“Our client finds your client’s demands spurious, frivolous and clout-chasing but shall initiate an action in case your client fails to do so. Our client shall be claiming the sum of N1bn.”
Mohbad, a former signee of Naira Marley died on September 12 at the age of 27.
