Singer Bella Shmurda has alleged that fellow singer Mohbad wanted to kill himself over the latter’s contract impasse with Naira Marley’s Marlian Music.
The 27-year-old made the recollection in an interview with Chude Jideonwo.
Speaking on why he took sides with Mohbad, Shmurda said, “Mohbad is my bro, and before I spoke out, I had been in this thing.
“Though it was low-key. I saw what happened, even from the first time till this second time. I have always been in the loop of things, but at that point, someone had to speak for him.
“At a point, myself and Mohbad were in an apartment, and he said he wanted to jump from upstairs.”
He added that Mohbad’s attempt to take his own life was thwarted by his girlfriend who got in just in time.
“You can’t just keep going under and these people are just forming there’s nothing happening. Something is happening, and it is going to the extreme,” Bella Shmurda spoke further.
Mohbad terminated his contract with Marlian Music in October 2022, alleging assault and failure to pay royalties among others.
Reacting in a message posted while the controversy raged, Bella Shmurda said Naira Marley had lost the respect he had for him.
