Joseph Aloba, father of the late singer Mohbad, has given his opinion on whether a DNA test should be carried out on the latter’s son Liam.

He bared his mind in an interview with BBC Pidgin published on Tuesday, saying that the right thing should be done at the right time.

“This thing has come to majority now, not only Nigeria. So, they should do the proper thing at the proper time,” he said.

Mr Aloba also spoke about the quiet nature of the late 27-year-old and the relationship they had.

“Mohbad is a very quiet someone, he no dey talk o. Whatever you give to him will satisfy him. He’s my friend, we normally move together. Whatever I’m doing he would try to join me to do it,” he said.

Aloba also said that Mohbad became interested in music through him.

“Ilerioluwa is a kind of person that whatever you are doing, he would like to do something like that. Because he knows me as a musician, whenever I’m going out he is ready to follow me. Sometimes he used to dance, sometimes he would be the person to back me up. So, that was how we started,” he said.

Questions have been asked on social media on whether the child Mohbad’s partner bore is genuinely his, hence the suggestion of a DNA test.

Mohbad died on Tuesday, September 12 leaving behind his partner, son and parents.

Last month, the Lagos Police Command exhumed his corpse for an autopsy to investigate his death.

They have also taken Sam Larry and Naira Marley who have been at the centre of the controversy regarding the 27-year-old’s death into custody for questioning.
