Abosede Aloba, the mother of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has clashed with actor Yomi Fabiyi over allegations surrounding the singer’s death.
At a World Press Conference held on Wednesday at the Radisson Blu in Ikeja, Lagos State, Fabiyi called for justice for Mohbad and accused the singer’s brother Adura Aloba, of sending him a message on Instagram claiming to know the cause of Mohbad’s death.
Reacting to the accusation, Mrs Aloba vehemently denied the claim, asserting that Adura had no knowledge of his brother’s death and urging Fabiyi not to implicate him unjustly.
“They killed Mohbad, and you want me to lose his brother unjustly. He knows nothing about his brother’s death; do not implicate my son,” she said, visibly upset.
She further lamented her loss, saying, “I am not happy that I lost Mohbad because if he were alive, I wouldn’t be sitting here with you. They took my precious gift away, and I won’t let them take Adura, too.”
Fabiyi responded by stating that his concern was not the identity of the sender but the content of the message itself. He maintained his belief that the message originated from Adura.
This development follows ongoing controversies involving Mohbad’s family since his death on September 12, 2023.
The singer was buried the following day. His death sparked widespread outrage and suspicion, prompting the police to exhume his body on September 21 for an autopsy.
In a related matter, Mohbad’s widow Omowunmi Aloba, has accused her father-in-law Joseph Aloba, of avoiding a DNA test to resolve a paternity dispute concerning her son, Liam.
She also accused him of defaming her child online by referring to him as a “bastard,” despite a court’s directive to proceed with the DNA test.
Omowunmi threatened to independently conduct the test and publish the results if delays continue.
In a strongly worded statement, she said, “If your client continues in this tardy manner, we will have no choice but to conduct the DNA ourselves and inform the court of our position.”
