An Igbosere High Court in Lagos has fixed October 10 for the trial of Nollywood actress, Monalisa Chinda-Coker, for alleged tax evasion.
The trial had been fixed for June 5, but could not hold due to Eid-el-Fitr holiday.
Justice Adedayo Akintoye, at resumed hearing on Thursday, fixed October 10 as the new date for trial.
Monalisa, who is also a movie producer, faces two-count charge of failure to file annual tax returns and failure to pay income tax in respect of her company, Monalisa Code Productions, located in Lekki.
Justice Akintoye had at the last adjourned date on April 1 renewed a bench warrant for her arrest following failure to appear in court for trial.
Lagos State counsel, Babatunde Sumonu, told the court that the bench warrant earlier issued had not been effected.
The judge, therefore, ruled that the bench warrant should subsist.
The court had on January 21 given an order for Monalisa’s arrest following an application made by Lagos State Ministry of Justice.
The state submitted that the defendant repeatedly failed to honour court summons since 2017 when the charge was filed.
