A former 2nd Vice-President of Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Monday Ubani, has questioned the treatment given to relationship blogger, Blessing Okoro, for lying about owning a house while posing in front of it.
The blogger’s arrest by the apparent owner of the house known as Onye Eze, became public knowledge on Monday after she posted a picture in Eze’s premises claiming she had built a seven-room mansion.
In the video, Blessing is handcuffed and forced to admit that she is not the owner of the house and that she only went to take a picture.
Mr Ubani, in a post early Tuesday on Facebook, questioned the use of handcuff on the blogger.
“Under what section of the criminal code was the alleged ‘offence’ of posing with an immovable property an offence? Why the handcuff? Is she such a dangerous criminal warranting it at all?” he said.
Ubani reasoned that the incident might have been a ‘stunt pulled by both parties’ as Blessing “was seen drinking wine with the Onye Eze in his house indicating that things are normal.”
The senior lawyer advised Blessing to ‘seek spiritual help first before seeking for legal help’ if posing with people’s property was a ‘habitual defect’.
“I did not like one bit that treatment that was meted out you. Stay out of trouble sis,” Ubani said.
