Kassim and Aliyu Abiola, sons of the late Moshood Abiola, who were arrested and detained over a robbery incident at the residence of the late politician in Ikeja, Lagos have been released.
Premium Times reported on Tuesday night that their lawyer Mike Ozekhome confirmed the release of the duo.
Mr Ozekhome said their bail was secured around 3pm on Tuesday, adding that Abiola’s first daughter Lola Abiola-Edewor signed an undertaking with the police seeking the release on bail of her brothers and their internal staff.
Mrs Abiola said her brothers were arrested due to their unruly acts to the police officers during interrogation.
But the brothers claim their arrest was sequel to a complaint made to the police by their stepmother Adebisi Abiola after the robbery incident.
The duo approached a Lagos State High Court in Ikeja for the enforcement of their fundamental rights and demanded N100 million as compensation.
Unknown persons invaded the Ikeja residence of late Abiola on September 2, carting away valuables, including foreign currencies.
It was gathered that the robbers accessed the house through the canal and escaped through the fence of the building.
The police questioned about seven domestic staff suspected to have connived with the robbers.
