A Malaysia-bound plane had to make a U-turn back to Saudi Arabia after a passenger realised she had left her baby in the terminal.
The plane had taken off from King Abdul Aziz International Airport in Jeddah en route to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, when the young mother called the pilot’s attention to her baby whom she left behind at the airport.
In a video of the incident, the shocked pilot was forced into a short argument with operators on his request to return to the airport.
“May God be with us. Can we come back?” the pilot asks.
“This flight is requesting to come back. A passenger forgot her baby in the waiting area, the poor thing,” the pilot is heard saying in the video.
Again, the pilot says to the air traffic operator: “I told you, a passenger has left her baby in the terminal and she is refusing to continue the flight.”
The flight was later given permission to return to the hub not until after a brief pause.
Last year, police in Germany said a couple had left their daughter at an airport in Stuttgart on their way back from a holiday.
Officers allegedly spotted the five-year-old wandering alone around the terminal last October.
Each parent had reportedly driven off separately and believed the child was in the other’s car.
