Actress Rita Dominic has mourned comic actor Mr Ibu whom she described as a rare gem.
The 48-year-old shared Ibu’s picture on her Instagram on Monday in which she added that the actor made the world a better place through his talent.
She wrote: “Very sad news.. we have lost a gem. You made the world a better place through your talent. You made people laugh ever so effortlessly. I know you will have them in stitches in heaven… You will be missed greatly… May your soul Rest In Peace till we meet to part no more.”
Mr Ibu whose real name is John Okafor, died on Saturday at Evercare Hospital in Lagos State after a protracted battle with illness.
The 63-year-old had battled health issues that led to multiple surgeries and the amputation of his leg.
According to the national president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) Emeka Rollas, Ibu’s manager Don Single Nwuzor told him that the actor suffered cardiac arrest before he passed on.
“Mr lbu suffered cardiac arrest according to his manager for 24 years Mr Don Single Nwuzor. I announce with deep sense of grief that Mr Ibu didn’t make it. May his soul rest in peace,” he said in an Instagram post on Saturday.
