The Nigerian movie industry has been thrown into mourning again following the death actor Mr Ibu who died 24 hours after Yoruba actor Sisi Quadri.
The national president of Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) Emeka Rollas confirmed Ibu’s passing in an Instagram post on Saturday in which he also announced the death of actress Kate Henshaw’s mother.
In his statement, Emeka Rollas said that Ibu’s manager Don Single Nwuzor revealed that the actor suffered a cardiac arrest before he eventually died.
He wrote: “Sad Day for Actors Guild of Nigeria. Kate Henshaw lost her mother earlier today and Mr lbu suffered cardiac arrest according to his manager for 24 years Mr Don Single Nwuzor. I announce with deep sense of grief that Mr Ibu didn’t make it. May his soul rest in peace.”
Mr Ibu underwent multiple surgeries and a leg amputation in 2023.
He was aged 63.
