Actors Kunle Afod, Bolaji Amusan popularly known as Mr Latin and Faithia Balogun have joined in mourning Ayobami Olabiyi better known as Bobo B.
News of Bobo B’s death surfaced on social media on Wednesday with the confirmation coming from Bose Akinola, the Oyo State Governor of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN).
Mr Latin, the TAMPAN president also confirmed the veteran actor’s demise.
In a post on his official Instagram page late Wednesday, he revealed that Bobo B passed away on October 16, 2024.
Describing Bobo B’s death as a tremendous loss to the entertainment industry, Mr Latin praised his dedication, leadership and contributions which he said had left an indelible mark on TAMPAN and the Yoruba film industry.
He urged the public to keep Bobo B’s family in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time, calling for a collective show of support and strength.
He wrote, “During this difficult time, I encourage all to keep his family in their thoughts and prayers. Let us come together as a community to offer our support and strength to one another. May he rest in perfect peace.”
Celebrities and fans flooded social media with tributes and messages of condolence.
Faithia Williams expressed her shock, writing, “Hmmm, Bobo B Ha.”
Fausat Balogun also paid tribute on her Instagram page, posting a picture of the deceased with the caption, “REST IN PEACE BOBO B,” accompanied by crying emojis.
Similarly, Kunle Afod honoured the late actor with a message: “Good night legend. RIP BOBO B. Sun re oooo.”
Bobo B’s passing adds to the list of Yoruba actors who have died in 2024.
Earlier this year, Sisi Quadri passed away due to complications from kidney-related issues.
Another Yoruba actor, Dayo Adewunmi popularly known as Sule Suebebe also died after a brief illness in Ibadan, Oyo State.
