MTN Nigeria has launched its most affordable smartphone which runs on Kai Operating System (KaiOS) for N8,000.
The phone comes with a 2.4 inch screen size, 2,000 mAh battery capacity, dual sim, a rare and front camera for selfies, among others.
Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of MTN Nigeria, Rahul De, said at the launch of the smartphone in Lagos on Wednesday, that the telecommunications firm considers it as its duty to make everyone an owner of a smartphone.
“Affordability of smart phones is a major challenge in this part of the world, hence, the reason for a smart phone with so many features selling at N8,000.
“We want to bring connectivity to everybody. We believe that connectivity leads to growth in the nation’s economy. With connectivity, growth of the economy becomes faster,” Mr De said.
The CMO assured that the smartphone has undergone rigorous testing to ensure that it meets customers’ demand in terms of quality.
General Manager, Data and Services, MTN, Abiodun Ajayi, said the phone comes with pre-installed Apps such as WhatsApp, Facebook, YouTube, FM radio and Google Maps for navigation.
He also said that customers would get free data of 500MB for six months after purchase.
Mr Ajayi assured that the applications on the app store provided in the phone, have been optimised for the phone, hence, there should be no fear of apps crashing.
He also boasted that the phone can last two days without charging the battery.
Customers can purchase the product at any MTN store nationwide at retail price of N8,000.
