Ashraf Sanusi, son of the Khalifa Muhammad Sanusi II, has expressed excitement on social media about his father’s imminent return to the throne as Emir of Kano.
The Kano State House of Assembly on Thursday created an avenue for Sanusi’s return by repealing the law which created five emirates in the state.
Ex-governor Abdullahi Ganduje created the emirates and appointed emirs after deposing Sanusi on March 9, 2020.
The emirates created were Kano, Bichi, Rano, Gaya and Karaye.
However, with the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPC) controlling Kano’s executive and legislature after defeating the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the polls last year, Sanusi’s return has become imminent.
The emir’s son Ashraf wrote on Thursday on X, “HH Khalifa Muhammad Sanusi II is back!”
A post on Sanusi’s X page also addressed him as Emir of Kano.
“Earlier today His Highness Khalifa Muhammad Sanusi II CON, Emir of Kano depart Lagos to Rivers State to attend the Rivers State Economic & Investment Summit,” the post read.
Sanusi is the keynote speaker for Thursday’s activities at the state function.
The summit, which began on Wednesday and themed “Rivers Emerge: Pioneering Pathways to Economic Growth and Sustainability,” aims to forge a new trajectory for the state’s economic development.
