Following the influx of entries for the inaugural MultiChoice Talent Factory, the regional interviews kicked off in Lagos on Wednesday.
With over 3,100 entries received, the selection process is underway to select 20 of the most noteworthy candidates who will receive the opportunity to hone their television and film production skills during the year-long, funded programme.
The West African regional MTF Academy which would base in Lagos, will admit and train deserving, young, talented filmmakers– practising and prospective – from across the continent in the various aspects of filmmaking.
In a recent interview with the West African Director, MultiChoice Talent Factory, Femi Odugbemi, he said: “The next generation must understand that as filmmakers, they are the historians of the modern age.
“We’ve got to have great filmmakers who are willing to take on big themes and unearth untold stories and all of that requires us to be deliberate about how we mentor the next generation. [We] have to be very deliberate that the next generation will simply not tell stories uneducated.”
The Talent Academy is a first in the three touch points that MultiChoice Talent Factory will deliver over the course of the year- MTF academies, Masterclasses and the MTF Portal. The year-long training will begin on Monday, October 1st, 2018.
