Afro-pop star, Yemi Alade, has revealed that her mother, Helen Uzoma, once sold her economy plane ticket to pay her school fees while in primary school.
The 30-year-old revealed this on Instagram early Monday from London, saying the city was more than a place for her family.
According to her, it brings back memories of hard times but also connects with the present as they are now able to fly business class.
“London is more than just a city to my family, it marks a time in our lives (20yrs ago) when mum had to sell her economy class ticket to pay my primary 6 school fees. Today we fly business class!” the singer said.
Yemi Alade, on Sunday, shared a video on Instagram showing the two of them dancing and singing along to her new single ‘Shekere’, which features Grammy winner, Angelique Kidjo.
In an interview in May 2019, Yemi Alade credited her mum with instilling in her the desire to communicate with others through music.
