Senator Ben Murray-Bruce of Bayelsa East has accused a budget watchdog,
BudgIT, of spreading false information about his constituency projects through its platform called TrackaNG.
TrackaNG had in a tweet on Monday asked the senator to explain how an alleged sum of N220 million was spent for his constituency projects in 2018.
“Dear Sen. @benmurraybruce, we are aware that the FG has released 50% funds to MDAs. Can you provide an update on the N220m projects you nominated in the 2018 budget to your constituents? Public funds must work for the people. #AskQuestions,” the tweet read.
In response, Murray-Bruce wrote in several tweets on Wednesday, calling the organisation a ‘deceptive and dishonest’ one.
He said he did not receive any amount and that the ministry involved should be contacted for information, not him.
“Dear @TrackaNG, You are a deceptive and dishonest organisation trying to deceive the public. I’ve answered this same question TWICE. I received NO PENNY for any project. If you truly want to know, contact the ministry involved. Same thing I said last time,” Murray-Bruce said.
In another tweet, he said: “Those who fund @TrackaNG, should be aware that what they are doing is manipulation of public sentiments. If you truly want accountability, why would you leave a ministry handling funding and implementation of projects, to come after Legislators who aren’t involved in the project?”
